Barnes Dances uses a stereo prerecorded track that blends with the live ensemble.
Technical requirements
- MAC or PC with multi-channel DAW
- Audio interface with 3+ channels (2 audio, 1 click); 5 ideal, to separate the vox track
- Provided Max patch (free at cycling74.com), Logic session, or any standard DAW
- Stereo speakers
- Earpieces for ensemble click
Audio tracks
- Crosswalks and instrumental tracks
- Voice (“vox”) tracks — mixed separately for clarity; the engineer controls their levels independently
Amplification (optional, preferred)
- High-quality condenser mics with clean reverb (2–4 sec) for blend, unless the space is naturally resonant
- May be performed dry

The Audio & MIDI package also includes a click-track MIDI file, an audio click, stereo tracks by movement, and a rehearsal track (audio left, click right). All files drag into a session properly timed.
