Running the electronics

Double Happiness uses prerecorded samples that blend with the live performance. There are two ways to run them.

Max patch

standard version

How it runs

The pianist cues each sample live with a foot pedal, or a sound engineer cues them at the spacebar. The numbered cues in the score match the patch.

Logic session

backup · click only

How it runs

The electronics are fixed to a click track. Press play at the top of the session and it runs to the end, with no cueing and no foot pedal.

Click

Both performers follow the click in earpieces from start to finish; needs an interface with 3+ outputs (2 audio, 1 click).
