Electronics
In a Grove is a fully amplified work. A mixing engineer serves as an integral member of the ensemble, amplifying each instrument individually; the four (or eight) singers each require a high-quality wireless lav mic. A separate musician triggers prerecorded samples and live vocal processing—reverb, granulation, delay, pitch shifting—via a Max patch. The ensemble pianist doubles on a MIDI keyboard within the same patch. Stereo PA with a sub-woofer is required.
