Electronics
A Natural History of Vacant Lots incorporates a stereo prerecorded audio track and click track that should blend seamlessly with the live performance. The electronics were updated in March 2025 following the release of the commercial recording.
Technical Requirements
- MAC or PC with multi-channel digital audio workstation
- Audio interface with 3+ channels (2 for audio track, 1 for click)
- Software options: Provided Logic session or any standard DAW
- Stereo speakers
- Earpieces for ensemble to follow click track
Amplification (Optional)
- Use high-quality condenser microphones with clean reverb (2–4 seconds) for blend
- May be performed without amplification
Solo vs. Quartet Versions
Two versions of the electronics are available. In the solo version, the prerecorded tracks include both the electronics and the pre-recorded percussion parts (drums, glockenspiel and wine glass, vibes). In the quartet version, those percussion parts are performed live, so the prerecorded track contains only the electronics. The electronics track itself is the same for both versions.
