Hello friends,

I hope you have weathered the recent storms (literal and emotional) and past year.

There’s a lot of exciting projects I’m looking forward to sharing with you this year and releasing all these “quarantine” compositions that are eager to escape my apartment.

A few of my new works include two cello works: Exhalation for electric cello and live electronics, premiered recently in the Netherlands by virtuoso Johannes Moser, and will be released in surround sound on Apple Music in the coming year; Inbal Segev recorded The Pleasure at Being the Cause (available on all streaming platforms). My four year in-progress opera In a Grove receives its premiere in Pittsburgh (February 19, 22, 25, 27 & March 1, 3) and will be heard at the following season at LA Opera. The adventurous pianist David Kaplan performs my new piano fantasy Passagework on both coasts (NJ and CA). Lastly, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke premieres my song “Everything Will Be Ok” in San Francisco and Baltimore recitals.

Hub New Music is taking New Addresses on the road! They premiered an accompanying film, which features movement artist Laura Kathrein, at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. You can view that here; it really is a stunner:

Check out their performances in D.C., Riverside, Portland, Waco, Oklahoma, Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi, Boston, and NYC.

Other season highlights include a weeklong residency with the Phoenix Symphony, of which there be will more info soon, performances of my recent Don’t Look Down with ensemble SRQ and the New World Symphony, and the long awaited, long postponed premiere of The Last Message Received at both Yale and Northwestern Univertities in April.

I’ll also write a new clarinet quintet jointly commissioned by the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra in LA, Omega Ensemble in Sydney, Third Angle New Music in Portland, and Chatter in Alberquerque.

I’m also pleased to be teaching at the Mannes School of Music here in NYC, and progressing on the 40-minute, semi-staged Beaufort Scales, with Lorelei ensemble which will be heard in the fall of 2022!

Oh, and Carrie and I will be in residence at the Bogliasco Foundation in October and November of this year. Cannot describe how thrilled I am to return to Italy.
