2025-2026 Season: Major Premieres and Continued Collaborations
Dear Friends,
I hope this finds you well as we head into this new season. I’m thrilled to share some major developments ahead, including world premieres with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and The Crossing/Present Music, the continued success of “In a Grove,” and several exciting collaborations that have been years in the making.
World Premieres
This season features two major world premieres I’m particularly excited about. The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra premieres my Double Concerto for Violin and Cello for Anthony Marwood and Coleman Itzkoff across three performances in May (Costa Mesa on the 14th, Los Angeles on the 16th, and Beverly Hills on the 17th). In November, The Crossing Choir collaborates with Present Music for the world premiere of “Of Being Numerous” — first in Philadelphia on November 21, then Milwaukee on November 23. I’ve also completed “Swift Interval,” a new work for harp and prerecorded microtonal harps that Stef Van Vynckt will premiere in Brussels this March.
More “In a Grove”
After being included in The New York Times’ Best Classical Music and Opera of 2025 So Far, the opera continues its journey with Eastman Opera Theatre for performances on October 30 and November 2, conducted by Tim Long, followed by Young Artists at Opera Queensland on November 7. It’s been incredibly moving to see how this work continues to resonate internationally.
Don’t Look Down Live in NYC
On September 30, I’ll join Sandbox Percussion for “Don’t Look Down” at The New School’s Tishman Auditorium — a multimedia evening exploring our decade-long creative partnership. We’ll perform works from our acclaimed album alongside a discussion of the compositions, from the pandemic-born title track to “Ode to Joy’s” bittersweet celebration of New York City. You can register here, and the album is available for streaming everywhere from Pentatone.

Recent Premieres and Ongoing Tours
Recent months have brought wonderful premieres, including “Barnes Dances” performed by Hub New Music—they’ll reprise it at their recital at Tanglewood in May, before we record it as part of a new album. “Beaufort Scales” continues its journey following successful NYC and European debuts — Lorelei Ensemble will perform it at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art in March and Luther College in November.

European Highlights
The season includes European premieres of “Will There Be Singing?” with the Regensburg Philharmonic on November 21 and Stuttgart Philharmonic in May, plus an extensive German tour of “The Pleasure at Being the Cause” with Benedict Klöckner and Kai Schumacher.
